Watercolour
Deb began her career as an illustrator working in watercolour and gouache for a textile manufacturer. She paints in a realistic style using extreme values - white highlights and black shadows. Her dry brush technique was used for floral patterns that were printed by rotogravure for consumer products. This style has carried over to some of her digital works.
Urban Sketching
About 10 years ago, Deb got hooked on urban sketching, and in 2023, she dedicated the whole year to sketching and sharing stories about the homeless community in Waterloo Region. She’s been showing off these amazing sketches at galleries and art shows around the area. Deb loves experimenting with different mediums and papers, always picking what makes the scene pop the most.
Digital Illustration
For the past five years, Deb’s been bringing her illustrations to life on the iPad. With a solid background in graphic design, making the switch to this medium was a natural fit—and it’s easily her favorite. She’s drawn everything from flowers to vehicles, neon signs with a retro vibe, street scenes, the homeless, street performers, and even market and street food vendors.
